Professional Tutor since 2014.
I have been working as a tutor of some kind since 2010. I started out as a student tutor for Dutchess Community College. After getting my B.S in Applied Mathematics at SUNY New Paltz, I worked for a couple of programs including the Hyde Park Central School District as a Math home tutor, and returning back to DCC as a professional tutor. I love helping students understand the importance of math. One should not only know how to do the calculations but know why you are learning any particular topic. I enjoy relating math topics to real world examples and do my best to get students excited on the possibilities on what math and science does for all of us. Besides tutoring, my hobbies includes all types of farming including raising chickens, beekeeping, and growing lots of vegetables.
Subjects tutored: All high school math and physics, Most college level math courses (except statistics and proof/theory math) and general physics.

My tutoring experience goes back as far as the 1980's when I worked as a substitute teacher for multiple schools and worked as an assistant in a high school resource room. More recently, I have been employed by Dutchess Community College as first a student peer tutor, a statistics specialist tutor, a Professional Tutor at the College, and over the last 6 years employed as a Professional Academic Tutor serving college students with special challenges. My tutoring experience is broad based including subjects as diverse as Elementary Math, History, Government, Astronomy, Economics, Accounting, Business Law, Statistics, and basic Computer skills. My goal as an educator is to find within each student their own way to learn and enjoy making progress toward achieving their own goals.

I’ve also taught literature, poetry, drama, and study skills. At the Vassar College Summer Institute for the Gifted, I taught middle school students creative writing and debate. I have also worked as a consultant for business and education professionals.
